Silent poetry in the air with a dose of adrenaline. Give a fantastic glider flight over the Moravian-Silesian region to a lover of heights and flying experiences. A glider or glider is a glider that uses thermal currents to fly, just like birds. No engine noise, just him, the pilot and a great view. You have to try it! The experience begins at the Zábřeh airport in Dolní Benešov, where he and the pilot will first go through pre-flight preparation. Then he gets into the plane, waves to the onlookers and takes off. The glider is attached by a towing rope to a powered aircraft, which climbs with it to an altitude of 700-800 metres, where it disconnects and the experience begins. „Communication with ADROP.CZ was excellent. As for my ‘glider flight’ experience, that’s a long story, which I’ll try to summarise. I took the flight at Zbraslavice Airport – on the second scheduled date, as the first had been postponed due to bad weather, but that didn’t matter at all. There were several gliders of various types flying at the airfield that day; I was assigned a glider which, according to the pilot’s description, had a range of 38 km from an altitude of 1 km, and ‘my’ pilot was a friendly professional. He explained everything to me, fitted me with a parachute, we got into the glider and, with the help of a ‘bumblebee’ tow plane, we got airborne. I had a voucher for a 30-minute flight, so the pilot told me that we’d be towed up to an altitude of 700 metres and then unhooked there; he said that although the thermals were ‘disrupted’ due to stronger winds, but he’d try to glide for as long as possible. During the tow, we were tossed about quite a bit in places, but it was only after we’d released the tow rope and started gliding that the amazing experience really began – and the silence, that is, unless, like me, you open that tiny little window that’s there. When we’d glided up to an altitude of about 470 m, the pilot managed to find a thermal and it was incredible; within a few minutes we’d climbed in a circle (going round and round) to an altitude of 1,250 metres, and the pilot told me, “We’ll easily make those 30 minutes now.” The pilot was absolutely brilliant; he kept me updated on what he was going to do, where we were and what we could see, and even let me take the controls for a moment. In the end, we glided for a total of 34 minutes, and the landing back at the airfield was smooth (as smooth as it can be on a grassy surface). It was a truly brilliant experience, but I should warn people who get sick even on a merry-go-round – myself included – that you might not feel entirely well during the flight, or even afterwards – as I didn’t either. But it’s worth it, give it a go ........... Jirka“
