Experiential course Living with a disability Pardubice

Life with a Disability experience seminar is divided into theoretical and practical parts, both of which complement each other perfectly.

During the first, theoretical part of the seminar, which takes a total of 3-6 hours and is designed for 1 to 6 people, participants will hear all about living with a disability. Professionals who work in the social sphere will answer all their questions, explain how people with disabilities are integrated into society, what complications living with different types of disabilities brings etc. At the same time, participants will also have the opportunity to visit the integration workshops and apartments for people with disabilities that are part of the center.

After the tour and the introduction, there will be the practical part in which the participants will experience life with a disability for themselves. They will try out auditory, olfactory and haptic puzzles, putting all of their senses to the test. Then they will try moving around in a wheelchair both indoors and outdoors, doing common household chores, dressing a person without a wheelchair, and they will also try what it's like to do common household chores with a special hand orthosis preventing them from moving freely. They will then enjoy dog-assisted and animal-assisted therapy, and have the opportunity to be in direct contact with therapy animals such as a snake, a tortoise or a therapy dog.
