Stay in a game preserve, sleep in the treetops or gaze out of bed at the nearby mountain peaks? You can experience it all while glamping. And you don't have to compromise on comfort. Come discover the magic of this new style of travel.
What is glamping anyway?
Glamping is nothing but camping taken to a whole new level. It was created by combining the words glamorous and camping, which describes the whole concept really well. While you are staying literally in the countryside, you enjoy the luxury of a better category hotel. As well as sleeping comfortably, you can also expect a bath, a fully equipped kitchen and heated floors when glamping. Just take a step out of the dwelling and you are in the middle of nature. A great way to enjoy a bit of adventure without having to compromise on comfort.
Where did glamping come from and why is it becoming more and more popular?
What are we going to say, camping in the great outdoors is great fun, but if you've been swallowed up by the city, frustration at the lack of amenities we've become accustomed to can win out over the adventurous spirit. Not everyone is willing to spend a holiday in the countryside without a toilet and wash in an icy stream. But to have to go to a hotel that's crawling with other tourists, which takes away from the privacy and the intensity of the connection with nature? Not at all!
The foundations of glamping were laid at a time when the wealthier classes were travelling the world, but also didn't want to give up their luxuries. Even knights and nobles at tournaments were no strangers to comfortable tents with furniture. So this is not a 21st century innovation. But it is only in the last decade that this style of accommodation has become a trend, and one that is accessible to virtually everyone.
The first glamping tents began to spring up in exciting resorts in exotic destinations, and their popularity skyrocketed. From African and Asian countries they found their way to Europe, not excluding the Czech Republic. Apart from their comfort, they have another common denominator, namely that you can only find them in places that are quiet, peaceful and yet interesting. There will be no shortage of pleasant experiences.
What can you find inside a glamping tent?
Glamping accommodation usually includes a bedroom with a large bed and comfortable mattresses. There's no need for a mattress. There's also a kitchenette and, in most cases, a bathroom with a toilet. While camping is at the mercy of the temperature outside, glamping is a great way to warm up in the stove. It is not uncommon to find accommodation with a terrace and even a lounge.
Is glamping for everyone?
If you have a positive relationship with nature, you'll love this style of accommodation. If you gravitate more towards luxury, this might not be the experience that suits you best. Even though the comfort level is quite high, you still need to think about the fact that you are outdoors and some of nature's insects will be in your dwelling.
