Safe driving courses for families

„Nicely conducted the whole course. My wife didn't want to go at all - she was worried she wouldn't make it, break the car etc, but she ended up enjoying it immensely - there was room to try everything out safely with good advice from the instructor over the radio. The length was fully "up to" our physical capacity - and we rotated at each training point within the pair :-) . The classroom introduction was very practical - demonstration videos (seats, adjustments, airbag vs. fingers in steering wheel, secured-unsecured cargo inside the car, etc. ... very informative). Followed by practice - always nearly an hour or so and a short break to take a leap/coffee break. - Two rounds of cones to start, or learn how to turn a steering wheel - I discovered that I don't actually know how to turn a steering wheel very well. Practiced then came in handy for e.g. the "Elk Test" - or an evasive manoeuvre at gradually increasing speeds. - Then practicing to handle rear axle skidding (moving bench throws the rear of the car out of alignment) - flatten, then water obstacles (= flatten + avoidance) were added to the flattening. - Then braking on different surfaces and from different speeds (perhaps the first time I fully braked from higher speeds to zero). Since then, I've been properly aiming my seat more perpendicularly - otherwise you don't have much of a chance during crisis braking... . Including coping with aquaplaning. - Handling front axle skidding . Overall, we took away a lot of humility and a feeling of "must have course".“
