Mother's Day from a historical perspective

In England, Mothering Sunday was again recognized in the 16th century during the Lenten season before Easter. At that time, servants were given time off work so that they could at least treat their mother to a visit. However, the modern idea of an international regular celebration did not arise until the early 20th century in honour of Anne Reeves Jarvis, a campaigner for mothers' rights. So when does Mother's Day fall in the Czech Republic? Traditionally, it has been celebrated on the second Sunday of May in this country since 1923. After the war, it was somewhat forgotten and only started to be celebrated again after 1989. So don't forget to make a circle in your calendar and please your mother with at least a little something.
