Explore the Botanical Garden and the Butterfly House
If you want to explore Liberec with all the trimmings, you shouldn't miss the Botanical Garden in any weather. The Liberec Botanical Garden impresses not only with its extensive collection of flora, but also because it is the oldest in the Czech Republic. There are several exhibitions divided according to climate and many unique tropical plants. If you want to see the outdoor gardens, don't forget to pack an umbrella.

Another place where you'll forget it's raining outside is the Papilonia Butterfly House. Hundreds of exotic butterflies flit about in the greenhouse, playing with every colour. The wreckage of a crashed plane, located in the exhibit, will keep visitors young and old interested in this adventure. And as a bonus, you can take a photo with the butterflies right in the photo corner.
Technical Museum Liberec for big and small curious visitors
Cars, motorbikes, bicycles, old trams, model airplanes... If you or your children are into technology, this will be a hit. And what's more - all under the roof. Just beware, the exhibits are in a hall that is not heated in winter and not air-conditioned in summer. So adjust your clothes to the outside temperature.
The museum's exhibits are renewed every year by the exhibitors - so you'll have the opportunity to discover new attractions thanks to the loaned exhibits.
Restaurants and cafes in Liberec: Grab a bite to eat
Did a quick shower interrupt your plan? Go for a coffee and cake. Some of the best cafés in Liberec include Mikyna, Kavárna bez konceptu, DOK or the relatively young and unconventional Kafe Jinak, which serves breakfast at 5 pm.
If you're hungry, go straight for lunch in Liberec. For example, to the Mexican restaurant Los Capolitos, where you can enjoy quesadillas and churros for a few bucks. If you're craving for more gastronomy, don't miss the Zlatý Kohout restaurant - this fine dining is located just a short distance from the centre of Liberec and you can enjoy, for example, a 4-course menu with authentic Italian dishes.

Take a flight in a MiG fighter - in a world unique
You can take off in the unique MiG-21 fighter simulator in Liberec, even in the rain. The flight simulator comes from a real decommissioned aircraft and has no equivalent in the world. The fighter is complete, including all the original levers and knobs, and is surrounded by a special dome with a 360-degree sky projection. Six HD projectors and a 2000-watt sound system make sure you feel like you're actually flying.
And when we tell you that a wall had to come down to install the plane, you'll know this is no ordinary attraction.
Train your brain cells on one of the many escape games in Liberec
Do you have a holiday planned in Liberec with your kids or friends and the weather doesn't look too promising yet? Don't leave anything to chance and book an escape game where you will be sheltered from the rain. And for several locks at once. You'll have to earn your way out with your wits and teamwork first.
- You certainly shouldn't miss the escape game Journey to the Moon, where you'll try to unravel the mystery of the Apollo 11 mission and its crew.
- How about venturing into the woods where it's dry? The escape game Lost in the Woods takes you into the middle of a dark forest where you are lost and without a clear direction, with only the light from a lonely cabin shining in the distance. Dare you venture there?
TIP: If you're looking for a programme for rainy days with friends and don't mind pulling out an umbrella every now and then, be sure to try out the alcohol escape game Tour de Beer, where, in addition to puzzles and riddles, there's also good beer waiting for everyone in several establishments.
Head to Babylon and other entertainment centres
When it's raining outside and you're looking for a place to keep the whole family entertained, Babylon Entertainment Centre is a safe bet. You'll find a waterpark with water slides and whirlpools (since the Liberec pool won't be open for a while, it's the only place to enjoy some serious water fun), an amusement park, an iQpark full of interactive exhibits and a laser game. In short, everything under one roof. Right next door is the modern science centre iQLANDIA, in case you haven't had your fill of fun.

TIP: If you'd like to save money, try a family stay at the Babylon Hotel with unlimited entertainment, where you get access to all the above-mentioned (and many other) entertainment centres included in the price of your stay.
Relax and pop some popcorn with a movie
Sometimes there's just nothing like sheltering from the rain in a comfy chair, popping some popcorn and getting lost in another world for two hours. In Liberec you have two options:
- Cinema City in the Forum shopping centre in the city centre, where you can combine it with shopping or sitting in a café.
- The newly renovated Cinestar Liberec in OC Nisa, which is on the outskirts with good accessibility by car and public transport (free). It offers more modern technologies such as Dolby Atmos surround sound and special Theatre Deluxe auditoriums with luxurious reclining seats.
Whether you're going to see a cartoon with the kids, a romance for two or an action-packed blockbuster, the cinema is a sure-fire entertainment that won't disappoint whatever the weather.
Have you guessed what you'll be doing during the week and weekend when it rains in Liberec? Or now you don't know where to go first?
