High Tatras: Guided ascent of Malý Ľadový štít

The hike to Malý Ľadový štít begins with the group – comprising a maximum of four hikers – meeting in Starý Smokovec, from where you’ll walk past Zámkovský Chalet and through the entire Malá Studená Valley to the foot of Téryho Chalet at an altitude of 2,015 metres. Below the Žlutá stěna, you’ll leave the marked trail and head into Dolinka pod Sedielkom.

From there, you’ll head to Modrý pliesk, where you’ll take a short break before continuing on to Sedielko at an altitude of 2,372 m. From there, it’s just a stone’s throw to Malý Ľadový štít on the main ridge of the High Tatras. On the descent back via Sedielko, you’ll visit Téryho chata, and then Hrebienok and Starý Smokovec await you.

The summit is accessible only when accompanied by a mountain guide, and the ascent is physically demanding, featuring challenging technical sections and an elevation gain of 1,350 metres. The entire trip takes 8 to 10 hours and is available from mid-June to October.
