When Karolína was looking for an original gift for her son Richard, she chose speleoferrata, an adventurous journey into the depths of a cave. "Since Ríša likes to climb, I thought it would be an experience we would never forget. And I was right," she smiles.

From the very beginning, they were given thorough training. "The instructor was very nice, she explained everything in a fun way and set clear rules. Her professional approach put me at ease," says Karolina.
Then came the moment of truth - entering the well. "When she opened the hatch and lowered us down, I thought to myself: What have I made up?! But in the end it was a blast. You learn a lot about yourself."

The way down was surprisingly easy, and the narrow spaces were no problem for Caroline. But the ascent was a real test. "Especially the rope ladders tested my fitness. And also the moment when you have to slide into a narrow crevice. I wasn't entirely comfortable there, but it was more about my head than my body."
Richard was a great support for her. "We went last together and he held me up when I needed it most. Mostly mentally. It was great that we were experiencing it together. Meanwhile, the instructor was helping clients ahead of us who were having problems along the way. Luckily, there was always the option to take a "backwards" route and wait for the rest of the group to return. But that was not for us. :-) "
Then came an unexpected bonus. "At the end, rainwater from the drainage pipe was streaming down on my head. And you know what? I actually laughed about it. It enhanced the whole experience," says Karolína, who is still full of strong emotions.
"It's really cool, but it takes a little bit of physical strength. We were underground for over two and a half hours because we were waiting for the weaker members of the group. Next time I would appreciate a family-only option, but in hindsight I have to say I would do it again!"
