How did the Old Lady's Club come about? Do you like jazz?
Yes, we like jazz a lot, my husband and I still go to the competition, although less often than before we opened. The Jazzclub at the Old Lady's is a dream come true for my husband :) it was a long time in the making, inspired mainly by our travels abroad, and thanks to an offer that is not refused, it really came into being here in this place.
It took us about a year, and as I like to say with exaggeration "it almost cost us our marriage" :)
On your website you write that your jazzclub used to be the centre of the Prague jazz scene, what do you mean by that, give us a little bit of the history of this place
This place has been a music club for almost a century, in recent years its fame has declined a bit, we are trying to bring it back to the center of the action, to be not only a place for listeners, but also a meeting place for musicians and their friends.
I try to get to know most of the musicians who play here now personally, we care a lot about personal contact. And given that this club was really the centre of the Prague jazz scene, I'm sure a lot of famous musicians played here. Now, for example, we are regularly visited by the composer Ondřej Soukup, whose wife Lucia Šoralová sometimes sings here.

You like to experiment, don't you? What makes you unique?
I'd say the atmosphere of our club is very unique, it takes you back to the time of jazz, we tried to pay attention to detail. Choosing the wallpaper, selecting the bar glass so that every drink has the right glass, or creating the paper rosettes under the drinks with our own graphics, all of this is important to us and took a lot of time.
We also offer a wide range of premium spirits and put an emphasis on novel cocktail recipes. In the near future we will also unveil a new cocktail menu, created for us by a very important bartender in the Czech bar scene.

What direction are you heading in, where do you see the Old Lady in say 5 years time?
I see our club as a place that will be sought after for its unique atmosphere, great drinks and last but not least a music scene that will always have quality music.
What experience from our menu would you like to try (besides your own :-)? Vietnamese Cuisine Course What do you do besides your club? Our one year old son Daniel :) What have you done lately to make yourself happy? Planning a trip to Scotland. We will be going to Edingburgh between the Christmas holidays. I believe we will visit a few jazz clubs and cocktail bars and come away full of inspiration.
