We have another review from our best badminton player Petr Koukal. This time, he was prolufting on the free fall simulator and it was a nice fikaaak!
No skydive like skydive
When I heard the word "skydive," I could see myself standing 4,000 feet above the ground with a parachute on my back, jammed in the door of a plane that a desperate instructor was trying to kick me out of. When I realised it was going to be an indoor skydiving, I was quite relieved.
Short preparation before free fall
Along with a group of other amateurs (it was nice to know I wasn't the only wood far, far away) I did the preparation in a "brief-clear-concise" style, so that was cool, no dying during the theory part. We discussed the meaning of the various tell-tale signs, practiced the ideal tunnel position on the chairs, and of course were not deprived of information on safety precautions.
Let's do it!
I slipped into my jumpsuit, hit the helmet, goggles and nose plugs and headed for the flight chamber, where a moderate northwest wind was blowing at 200-280 km/h. I don't know the temperature or dew point. There were already two skydivers flying around, moving so confidently and of course I couldn't wait to put my chair-trained skills to good use. I was under no illusions that my creations would be as perfect as theirs, but I really didn't expect it to be that much different!
With the help of the instructor, I jumped in with my feet flat. I immediately tried to balance, but it was hard to keep my body in the right position. I'm sure it's because I'm so tall :-)
Rating
The instructor didn't let me down and thanks to him I had a lot of fun on the free fall simulator. The feeling was amazing. I dare to say I experienced the same thrill as the skydivers and I didn't have to worry about which lever to pull. I was quite jealous of the experienced skydivers who were the masters of the situation and performed awesome stunts.
It's strange how lost you feel when you don't have solid ground under your feet. I got the feeling from the first entry that it was doing whatever it wanted with me. I thought I would do much better and it was this "failure" of mine that motivated me enough to definitely go to the skydive arena again and try to improve.
Who would I recommend the freefall simulator to?
Although it was quite a challenging experience, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience something original and exciting. Finally, anyone who wants to experience freefall flight but doesn't dare to skydive can make their dream come true. Cool instructors will hold you up (literally), you'll have a lot of fun.
