Riversurfing or Surfing on an artificial wave on the Elbe
How did the Elbe become a surfing destination? A group of enthusiastic surfers who wanted to make surfing possible inland were behind it all. Riversurfing already existed in the 1970s, but it was not yet here. Fortunately, it was not just an idea, and the first static wave in the Czech Republic can be found near Brandýs nad Labem.
Riding waves from spring to autumn
The busiest time to ride a wave is during the summer months, but if you don't mind the cooler weather, it's no problem to ride in spring and autumn until 30 September. You can rent a wetsuit on site to keep warm, don't worry. All other equipment can also be rented. Only if you get so caught up in surfing that you want to do more of it, it's no problem to arrive with your own equipment and just pay for entry.
Surfing times
Surfing is from 6pm to 8pm on weekdays, and between 2pm and 4pm on weekends and public holidays. These are the times when the most water flows into the channel and the conditions are ideal for riding the waves. At other times the canal is used for boat traffic.
For beginners and advanced
You can enjoy surfing on the river even if you are a complete novice. That's what the instructors are there for, to explain everything to you. You need to be over 15 years old and eager to learn this popular sport in order to ride.

TIP: If you're interested in how the wave at Brandýs went from idea to reality, read our interview with Honza Maršík from Surfwave, who is responsible for this parade.
Indoor surfing in Prague for beginners and experienced surfers
You already know that you don't have to go to the sea for a surfing experience. But did you also know that you don't have to wait for good weather? Prague is home to the only indoor surf arena in the Czech Republic that allows year-round surfing.
The alpha and omega of such an indoor surf arena is a special surf pool, where the water current is driven over a soft mat to create the most authentic surfing conditions possible.
Fun for all ages
Indoor surfing is a separate sport in which competitions are even held. The good news is that it is suitable for almost all adventurers who love the water. Even children as young as 6 years old can hop on a wave here. There is no upper age limit.
For beginners and advanced
It doesn't matter if you don't have any surfing experience. Beginners first surf lying on their stomachs or kneeling (bodyboarding). Those who have already mastered wave taming can then surf standing up, to which they can add various tricks such as flips or flips under the guidance of professional instructors.
There's something for everyone
To enjoy indoor surfing, you need to purchase a voucher and book a date. The maximum number of surfers at any one time is 12. This is the only way the instructors can focus on each person individually and tailor the experience to their ability and experience.
What about equipment? You don't have to worry about that, you can rent everything directly at Surf Arena Prague in Letňany.
Wakesurfing as an adrenaline summer fun
Wakesurfing is another way to ride the waves on your board. This water sport consists of a surfer holding onto a rope attached to a motorboat and riding the waves created behind the stern of the boat. Many boats are designed specifically for wakesurfing so that the waves produced are second to none.
Although it is quite an adrenaline rush, it is a safe sport. In fact, the speed of the boat is quite low. Still, it's a good idea to have a life jacket, which makes wakesurfing even safer fun.
And where can you ride?
You can find this water parade on many water bodies all over the Czech Republic. You can ride the waves behind the boat at Rozkoša, Orlík and even in Nákl near Olomouc. And as with the previous surfing experiences, you don't have to worry about equipment, it can be rented on the spot.
