Autumn activities for children outdoors
Colourful leaves and a fresh breeze beckon outdoor activities. How about swapping kite flying and chestnut picking for something more adventurous this year? Perhaps horse riding, which is suitable for beginners and experienced riders alike. For example, you can go to the Jizera Mountains, where children (and adults up to 70 kg) can enjoy a pony ride with a beautiful autumn walk to the local lookout Česná studnice. Alternatively, instead of horses, head to a donkey farm. Children can enjoy a portion of petting the animals and a chance to ride these cuties.

Free fall
If your little ones have an adventurous nature, treat them to a wind tunnel flight where they 'll experience the sensation of freefall. The wind whistles through the tunnel at speeds of up to 287 km/h, but don't worry, a professional instructor keeps a watchful eye on the flyers the whole time and they can invite their best friends as an audience. And if you choose a 15-minute flight like this, you can all take turns.
Survival lessons
For even more action, there's a survival course for kids and teenagers. Together, you can learn how to work in symbiosis with nature and cope with everything from getting lost in the woods to the apocalypse.
Outdoor escape games
Do you feel like your kids can't get off their phones? Take them on an outdoor escape game in a number of Czech cities where there's something for everyone. They'll still have their phones in their hands, but they'll see the tricky challenges, puzzles and ciphers that escape games offer. Together, you'll walk through the city and learn information you didn't even know you had. Just great family fun!
TIP: If the weather is not so good, we recommend you try the adventure game Arcana - Against Time at Svijany Castle. We've prepared a review for you, so you know it's really worth it.
Autumn activities for children for rainy days
What to do in autumn with children when it's pouring rain? You'll find tons of tutorials online for making things at home, but we've got more adventurous tips for you. What are they?
Let the kids learn new skills
It'll be nice and warm for everyone when you set out to explore the craft of blacksmithing. There's a family-friendly blacksmithing course in Prague, where everyone can put their hand to work and create an original self-made memento of the awesome day.
There is also another creation in Prague, this time edible. If you have foodies at home, send them to a sushi-making course where they will learn how to cook this popular delicacy from scratch. And who knows, maybe they'll share their cooking skills with you at home.

Borrow a virtual reality experience and let your kids be anyone
How many times have you heard that your little one wants to go into space or have a proper action movie adventure? Virtual reality has the advantage that kids can become anyone for a moment in complete safety.
You can borrow a virtual reality set to take home and enjoy the fun with the whole family. The controls are intuitive so even grandparents can join in. There's something for everyone in this pack of 25 games. Whether you want to experience the action or exercise your brain. Unlike playing on your phone , at least the kids will get some exercise.
TIP: For little explorers, we recommend the VR Travel Pack, which lets them explore the whole world, even from space or the depths of the ocean.
Where to take the kids for a weekend or autumn break?
If you need a break, we recommend a family spa break in Moravia, where you can enjoy pampering and delicious cuisine.
If your kids are action-packed, head to Liberec. There are two adventurous stays that both children and adults will enjoy.
- The first stay is in the local EKOPark, where a treetop lookout tower, outdoor gym and mud kitchen await.
- If you appreciate more indoor activities, don't miss a family stay at the Babylon Hotel, which offers unlimited fun in addition to comfortable accommodation. Included is admission to the water park, iQLANDIA, amusement park and a number of other entertainment centres.
Where to go on holiday in autumn? Go to the sea
For all you heat lovers, there's still a way to avoid the autumn splashes and extend your summer with a trip abroad - head south. But where to head to the seaside in autumn that won't cost the world, and will give you both sunshine and a heaping helping of family fun? Families with children often travel to Egypt, Dubai, Turkey, Morocco or Zanzibar in autumn. Will you try it this year too?

But before you decide to embark on such an adventure, consider the advantages and disadvantages that such a holiday can bring:
Advantages:
- Pleasant weather: In many countries, autumn is a time of pleasant temperatures, when it's neither too hot nor too cold. Children can enjoy the sun and the sea without the risk of overheating or sunstroke.
- Fewer tourists: destinations tend to have fewer tourists in the off-peak season, which means fewer queues and easier access to attractions.
- More cost-effective: Airfare and accommodation prices are usually lower than in the summer months.
- Off-peak season gives you a better chanceto experience the authentic atmosphere of the country and meet the locals.
Disadvantages:
- School year: if you want to travel during the school year, you need to choose your vacation dates, take advantage of free days, or travel with preschoolers.
- Limited options: some hotels and restaurants may be closed during the low season.
- Health risks: There is an increased risk of certain infectious diseases in exotic countries. It is important to consult a doctor beforehand or get vaccinated.
- (Non)cancellation. When going on trips with children in autumn, you should think about the possibility of cancellation in case something kills them. So don't forget to pay extra for the option to cancel if you get sick.
If you're looking for an autumn holiday but are worried about travelling to exotic destinations, consider staying in some European countries. For example, you can fly with your children to Italy for exploration, Switzerland for adventure or Hungary for relaxation.
However you enjoy your autumn with your children, we hope it will be full of good cheer and unforgettable experiences.
