What is a via ferrata?
Via ferrata, or ferratas, are secured paths. They combine hiking with climbing and make the sport more accessible to the public. You move around the rock by using steel steps, ladders, rope bridges and so on. All the time you are then securely attached to the steel rope that is anchored to the rock.
Where to climb in Austria?
During the course you will climb the via ferrata Kitzlochklamm in Taxenbach. It is located near the mountain resort of Zell am See. It is a relatively výlively ferrata, for which you need to have a reasonable physical condition. You can climb the rope bridge and the vertical cliff with crampons. And, of course, a well-deserved look down into the úí.

Climbing course via ferrata takes place in Austria in the picturesque town of Taxenbach, where you can get there on your own. The one-day course takes place on a Saturday; for the two-day course, reserve both Saturday and Sunday. If you would like to arrange accommodation, this should be arranged when booking your course.
During the 2-3 hour course you will first learn the correct use of ferrata equipment and how to move safely on the rock. Once you're ready, it's time to get going and head up under the guidance of an instructor.
You can rent equipment free of charge on site, but be sure to bring sturdy hiking shoes, gloves (ideally ferrata gloves, or cycling gloves will do), sunglasses and a small backpack with snacks and plenty of drinks.
